Teen Workshop:
Drawing and Painting Immersion
Monday/Wednesday/Friday, July 13-24, 9:30am-12:30pm
except Wednesday, July 22, 9:30am-4:30pm

Students will explore a variety of media in this intensive introduction to drawing and painting from observation. Line, value, space and color are investigated as students work from dynamic still-life subjects. (Suitable for beginning and continuing artists)
Kalorama Landscape
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, July 8-10, 10am-5pm
Instructor: Kotler $320.
Working in the courtyards, alleys, and quiet side streets of Kalorama neighborhood, this class will concentrate on the poetry of light, shadow, time and place, characteristic of the urban landscape.
From Masterpiece to Invention
Sunday, July 12, 10am-4:30pm
Instructor: Weber $100.
Great paintings serve as a springboard for expressive invention in this workshop. Students will begin with rigorous large-scale drawings to investigate the structure and space of a master work. Building upon that structure, invented drawings will explore personal subject matter while echoing forms from great art of the past.
Drawing Into Painting Workshop
Two weekends, July 18-19, July 25-26, 10am-5pm
Instructor: Phillips $360.
Developing and sustaining an idea through the process of drawing to painting, this workshop focuses on the identification of motif and its compositional role in expression. With an emphasis on perception and composition, students will work with a variety of media as they develop the dialogue between subject and meaning.
(Prerequisites: drawing and painting)
Figure Drawing Workshop
Tuesday/Thursday, July 7-30, 1:30pm-4:30pm
Instructor: Wilson $360.
An intensive workshop concentrating on the structure, movement, and expressive qualities of the figure, and emphasizing refinement of perceptual drawing skills.
